CAROL L. SMITH WOODARD, 66, of Proctorville, Ohio, died Thursday, September 18, 2008, after a long, courageous fight against cancer. She was born December 13, 1941, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Horace and Edna Mae Lowe Smith. She was a graduate of Marshall University and Bellarmine University, attaining a BSN and MSN respectively. She retired from St. Mary's Medical Center after 43 years of continuous service. She leaves behind one son, Douglas Eugene Woodard of Proctorville; a granddaughter, Latisha Koukos of South Point, Ohio; a brother, Willard Eugene Smith (Sue) of San Diego, Calf.; a sister, Lucille Duba (Alfred) of Huntington; six nephews, Garrett Carmon, Sean Woodard, David Hagerman, Frank, Bill and Charles Duba; a niece, Betty Gaddis; caregiving-family members, Sharon Woodard, John Woodard, Daniel Carmon, Brynn Carmon and Mary Hagerman; and a host of loyal friends.
