James Dwight Mullis (Mullis)

Mar. 15, 1944 - Jun. 26, 2015 James "Jim" Dwight Mullis, age 71, of Huntsville, AL went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital. He was a devoted husband, wonderful "daddy" and proud "papa". He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Brooks Mullis, daughter Tonya Mullis Kirkham and her husband Mark and their two daughters Hannah and Sarah, and daughter Jamie Mullis Silvey and her husband Tommy and their three children Peyton, Katelyn, and Paige. He is also survived by brothers Clarence Wade King and his wife Ruth, and Howard Thomas King and his wife Brenda, one sister Sherry Thompson and her husband John. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Mullis and father B.H. Mullis, and sisters Hilda Forbus and Mildred Garton. He was a graduate of Huntsville High School and served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. After serving in the Navy, he went on to work for Bellsouth Telecommunications, where he worked for 34 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a lifetime member of the AT&T Pioneers. "Daddy" was a man who enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandkids. He loved working out in the yard, riding the lawnmower was his favorite pastime. He loved to tinker around with different projects and was always looking for something to get into. He will be missed by all of us, but we will see him again. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Hodges, Timmy Hodges, James Pellem, Scott Pentecost, Dusty Patrick and Tyler Hodges.
