Visitation for Ronald Joseph Thomas, 64, of Decatur will be today, Nov. 20, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Thomas, who died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at his residence, was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Vallejo, Calif., to Robert Joseph Thomas and Sarah E. Wingard Thomas. He was soon to retire from North Alabama Regional Hospital following 30 years of service as information systems coordinator. His father, and son, Kevin Mitchell, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia "Ginny" Raible Thomas; his mother, Sarah Thomas of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; three sons, Robert Mitchell and wife, Jody, of Decatur, Brian Thomas and wife, Martha, of LaFayette, Calif., and Andrew Thomas of Mill Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Melissa Bearden and husband, Doug Carter of Decatur; three sisters, Carol Myers and husband, Ed, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Beth Whitten and husband, Mike, of Florence, S.C., and Teri Haley and husband, George, of Berkley, Calif.; uncle, the Rev. Jerry Thomas of Santa Rosa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Ron's name to The Diabetes Foundation.
