Steve “Van” Corum, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on May 29, 1956, in Huntsville, Alabama, Van was the son of Clarence “Clifford” Corum and Bertha “Faye” Corum (deceased).
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborrah “Debbie” Lynn Shockley Corum; his son, Travis Corum (wife Mary); his daughter, Brianna Mosley (husband Chad); his niece, Tracy Ingerson (husband Matt); his cherished grandchildren, Brenna, Marshall, Nolan, Shepherd, Lyla, and Caleb.
Van is also survived by his father, Clifford; his sister, Debbie Patterson (husband Kell); his sister-in-law, Shirley Reed; his sister-in-law, Debra Shockley; many nephews, nieces, and a large and loving family who will miss him dearly.
Van’s greatest joy was always his family. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was a quiet but steady presence—often a man of few words, but those words were always meaningful. His love for his family was deep and unwavering, and his greatest pride was seeing them thrive. Whether spending time with loved ones or enjoying the companionship of his dog, Max, Van was always there, offering a steady hand and a kind word when it was needed most.
Professionally, Van worked for over 40 years at COLSA Corporation, where he rose to become Vice Chairman and CFO. Throughout his career, he was known for his integrity, leadership, and the deep respect he had for those around him, particularly his longtime mentor and friend, Frank J. Collazo. Frank’s guidance shaped not only Van’s professional life but also his personal values, and they became more like family than colleagues. His work took him all over the world, but no matter where he went, his heart remained with his family.
Van’s family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on in the lives he touched and in the memories they hold dear. Visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama, on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A private burial for close family and friends will follow the service.
He will be deeply missed, but his love, wisdom, and spirit will never be forgotten. https://www.laughlinservice.com/obituaries/Steve-Van-Corum?obId=34071509
