Lawrence Anthony Dimasi

Larry Anthony (Tony) Dimasi, age 61, of Owens Crossroads, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on the 16th day of June 2018. Visitation is Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Life service commencing at 3:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd. NE, Huntsville, AL 35811. Rev. Alfred Townsend and Pastor Maria Binkley are officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Larry was born on March 4th, 1957 in Dearborn, Michigan to Ilario Dimasi and Barbara Nell Bobbitt Dimasi Coulter. On February 16th, 1979, he married the love of his life, Laura Lee Downey at Bicentennial Church on Redstone Arsenal. After just a few short years, he and Laura began their journey as parents in September of 1981 when they had their son, Christopher. In October of 1988, they completed their family with the addition of their daughter, Amanda.

Larry and Laura raised both of their children in Huntsville, Alabama. Larry received his B.S. in Environmental Sciences and continued his career as a plant operator for the City of Huntsville. He was larger-than-life and at the same time incredibly down-to-Earth. He was by all means of the phrase a "family-man", a son, a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend, and a "Pawpaw". Family meant everything to him and his love for family was evident in every single smile he gave. He was Christ-like and a great friend too, consistently helping others do whatever needed to be done. He was one of the most supportive, loyal, and generous men in the world. That is evident in the many friendships he made during this life. Other than family and friends, his other loves included baseball, woodwork, and his pet dog "Boomer".

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Ilario Dimasi, and his step-father, Stanton Coulter. He will be lovingly and forever remembered by: his mother, Barbara Coulter of Owens Crossroads, AL; his wife and best friend of 39 years, Laura Dimasi of Owens Crossroads, AL; his son and daughter-in-love, Christopher and Jessica Dimasi of Harvest, AL; his daughter and son-in-love, Amanda and Jake Simmons of Harvest, AL; his three sisters and their spouses, Maria and Richard Binkley, Judy and Gus Hergert, and Patti and Roy Gamble; his two grandchildren, Camden and Carli Dimasi; and many aunts, uncles, step-brothers, step-sisters, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed!
