Funeral for Buddy May, 70, of Athens, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen Screws officiating. Burial will be in the Athens City Cemetery.

Mr. May died Monday at the Huntsville Hospital. He was born November 16, 1931 to Marshal and Annie Lou May in Winfield.

He was a retired teacher, coach and businessman. After graduating from Livingston State University in Livingston, he taught and coached in Athens, Pensacola, FL, and Huntsville, before retiring in 1986 from Huntsville City Schools.

He owned and operated The Plant Shoppe in Huntsville for years before retiring to Athens in the early 1990s to pursue other business interests.

In 1995, he and his wife, Billie W. May, purchased Milky Way Farms in Pulaski, TN, where they operated a B & B Corporate Retreat.

Survivors include his wife, Billie, of Athens; one son, Mike May of Madison; one daughter, Angie May Robbins of Huntsville; one adopted daughter, Stephanie McDowell of Huntsville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
