Howard "Ike" Burton Moore was born 16 April 1956 in Kentucky and was dragged to Huntsville at a very young age when his parents (Howard Sr. and Laima Ozolins) relocated there. He grew up a fanatic of all things related to cars and racing. Following High School he worked as a mechanic and eventually founded his own auto-workshop in Lacey Springs specializing in race cars. In 1979 he married Ms. Terry Burcham. He divorced and later married Ms. Cassie Barkley. Tragically, Howard passed away on Thursday, 20 June, 2002 at the age of 46. He and his first wife Terry did not have any children but he had a son with Cassie. Howard's sister Sandra is also a Grissom graduate. Below is Howard's obituary:

Ike as most of us knew him was a friendly sort. He had a distinctive friendly personality and was always quick to share a joke or cut up. We used to kid around with each other as he did many people while we were in high school. Ike will be remembered and will be missed.
