Jim loved figure skating and was very active in school being the Grissom High School class president, graduating in 1974. Jim attended Auburn University and majored in Interior Design in the College of Architecture, graduating with a BID in 1978. Jim was a Phi Gamma Delta at Auburn.

After graduating, Jim worked in Munich, Germany before moving to Denver, CO. He moved to Atlanta, GA in 1986 and worked as an Interior Designer at John Portman and Associates and The Coca-Cola Company, where he retired in 2011. Jim loved to read and go to the movies. He will be remembered for his wicked sense of humor and his wonderful laugh.

He is predeceased by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Margot Snyder, of Huntsville, his sister, Petra (Paul) Schmakeit, of Coupeville, WA, and two nephews, Paul and Alexander.
