Stephan Dahm

Stephan Hubert Paul Dahm August 7, 1956 - September 11, 2022

Stephan Hubert Paul Dahm, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on September 11, 2022, at age 66 after a long battle with cancer. Stephan was born in Huntsville and was the eldest son of Werner Karl Dahm of Bonn, Germany, and Kaethe Elizabeth Maxelon of Hindenberg, Germany. As a young man, he graduated from Grissom High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Stephan was a gentle soul who possessed a keen intellect, loved to read, and enjoyed the closeness to books and the people that loved them that his 30 years as a bookseller gave him. He loved expanding his mind and could converse in depth with anyone on almost any topic. He enjoyed nature and liked to hike and take long walks through his neighborhood. He had a prodigious appetite that was always the highlight of any family meal. While Stephan relished his privacy, he was a kind man with a tender heart who always enjoyed connecting with people and who touched a lot of people's lives through his kind, unassuming nature. He will be missed. Stephan was preceded in death by his father and mother, and is survived by his brothers, Werner Dahm and sister-in-law, Gisela Dahm, of Scottsdale, AZ, Martin Dahm and sister-in-law, Cindy Dahm of Huntsville, AL, and Tom Dahm and sister-in-law, Delia Dahm, of Coppell, TX; as well as his nephews, Johann Dahm of Seattle, WA and Werner Dahm of West Bloomfield, MI. Stephan was interred in the familial plot at Maple Hill Cemetery in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please just hug those close to you and be kind to one another.
