Mr. Henry Edward Shell, 53, of Connelly Springs, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Valdese General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Henry was born on Jan. 7, 1957, in Burke County, to Ernest Wesley Shell Sr. and Betty Eller Shell. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and mentoring children. Survivors include his grandmother, Jessie Eller of Connelly Springs; his mother, Betty Eller Shell of Connelly Springs; two daughters Megan Coralee Shell Potter and her husband, Eric, of Connelly Springs and Betty Wun Tamayo and her husband, Garrett, of Hawaii; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Bodde of Connelly Springs and Jessica Conner of Maiden; one sister, Lisa Kitzmiller and her husband, Troy, of Mt. Storm W.Va.; his fiancée, Angelia Stepp and her children, Dixon, Cassidy, Elizabeth and Madison, all of Connelly Springs; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Chris Shell of Connelly Springs. Mr. Shell was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Wesley Shell Sr.; and brother, Ernest Wesley Shell Jr. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Connelly Springs, with the Rev. Eric James officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heritage. Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory of Valdese is serving the family.
