Charles John Smith

Charles John Smith died at EIRMC on October 27, 2007, where he was joined in heaven with his grandfathers, Kenneth J. Moriarty (Ahleen) and Vernon C. Smith (Lila).       Charles was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he attended Falls Valley elementary and Holy Rosary elementary. He was a graduate of Bonneville High School, class of 1993. He received specialized training in advanced emergency medicine, fire fighting, medical radiography, and worked as a medical laboratory technician. He attended Idaho State University and later trained as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.   Charles was a loving father of four beautiful babies, Joseph, Kassidy, Loren and Krystal, to which he taught the importance of family with his wife, Kaleen. As a family we are mourning his death but wish to remember his life and celebrate the time we were blessed to have with him. Charles was the youngest of three children born to Lorenzo D. and Mary C. Smith. He enjoyed many things in life but held a special place in his heart for his two brothers, Todd and Chris (Chyanne). He looked up to them and enjoyed the many memories he shared with them.    He loved the hunter’s lifestyle he shared with them, as well as with his cousins, Tyler Pettingill (Andi), Casey Pettingill (Hollie), Robin Pettingill (Jennifer), and Eric Pettingill (Michelle). He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family, taking care of his prize fish and playing with the family dog, “Zoe.” Charles dedicated his life to helping others and working hard to support his family.    He had worked for the State of Idaho Correctional Institute at the Boise State Prison, Elmore County Ambulance, Fort Hall Fire Department, American Falls Ambulance, Swan Valley Quick Response Ambulance, Idaho Urgent Care, medical services at the Eastern Idaho State Fair and Sandy Downs horse racing events, and was currently working at Ammon Medical Care and was the Battalion Chief for the Ammon Fire Department and was a CPR instructor.   Charles was very giving and would always do what he could to help someone in need. He would stop at nothing to help his grandmothers, Ahleen Osloond (Joe) and Lila Smith. He will be missed dearly by his nieces and nephews, Nicole, Bret, McKadee and Triston and will always be remembered by the younger kids as the one that made sure they were wearing their helmet when riding their bikes, and the one that was always there with a Band Aid and a smile if they were hurt or sad. We love you “Chaz,” you will truly be missed.   Mass of Christen Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2007, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1690 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls. Burial will follow in the Ucon Cemetery in Ucon. A rosary will be held Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street, in Idaho Falls, with Deacon Rick Bonney, celebrant, followed by a viewing for family and friends form 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Burial at Ucon Cemetery. The family suggest that donation be made to the Charles John Smith family memorial fund and may be sent to Washington Mutual, 1711 S. 25th Street; Ammon, Idaho, 83406.
