Peggy Bishop (Kellow) VIEW PROFILE

Peggy Lynn Kellow, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was 73 years old. Born on September 23, 1950, Peggy was a lifelong resident of Iowa, and a member of the Class of 1969 of Indianola High School. Her heart was always rooted in her hometown, where she touched countless lives. Peggy was a vibrant soul whose warmth and kindness radiated to everyone around her. This served her well as she worked providing daycare services to her community. She was a devout member of the Indianola Church of the Nazarene, and later the Indianola Grace Evangelical Church. Her Christian faith was the bedrock of her life, and served as a wellspring of compassion that she in turn showered upon those around her. Rooting for the underdog was in Peggy's nature. She often saw the good in people when few others could. She was a woman of many passions. Her love for cooking was renowned, with her family fondly remembering her exceptional fudge and chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes. She was equally passionate about grocery shopping (especially at Fareway), bowling, and bingo. Peggy's love extended to her neighborhood as well. She was known for brightening days with her freshly baked treats. Her life's motto, "If it's worth doing, then it's worth overdoing," was an accurate representation of the love and dedication she invested in every aspect of her life. Peggy is survived her partner of many years, Tod Kellow; by her children Marci Kellow, Tamara Brooks, Stacy (Michael) Fuester, Kristen (Detavious) Smith, Erika Kellow, Kiejah Kellow, and Nikea (Colin) Westbrook, Jeremy Kellow, Trey Kellow, and Isaiah Kellow; her sister Leona Reetz; her grandchildren Breanna Kellow-Brooks, Bionca Kellow-Brooks, Ava Fuester, Ryker Fuester, Jadidyn Fuester, Madison Kellow, Olivia Kellow, Gabriel Kellow, Noah Kellow, Aiden Kellow, Trinity Smith, Jaylin Smith, Jazelle Smith, Tavian Smith, Samuel Wilking, and Jasarah Smith; and her great grandchildren Jasper Brooks and Liam Lee. She is also survived by a vast number of cousins, extended family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald Sr. and Marcella, her siblings Loretta "Jo" Miller, Garrett Lowell McNeeley, Garald McNeeley, Donald McNeeley Jr., and Gerold Lee Bishop, her son Steven Eric Kellow, and her grandson Maddox Kai Kellow. Public visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:00 am at Peterson Funeral Home, 602 East Salem Avenue, Indianola, Iowa. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm, with burial at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Indianola, Iowa. Peggy's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
