Bill Botkin was one of the first boys I met when my family moved back to Indianola the spring I was 7 and in Mrs. Lotz class for the last six weeks of the school year. Bill and I became friends at the wading pool under the Indianola water tower, which was the only pool in town in 1958. Lake Acquabi was a rare treat to enjoy back then . . . Bill and I were in class together from then on--he was a great drummer in band class and a smart kid. He found his working nitch after graduating from Simpson, operating heavy machinery for McAninch Construction, if I remember correctly ; P Mary Ford Krier
