Larry and his family were the first neighbors we met when we moved to 800 W. Ashland, on the corner of F Street and Ashland.  Larry had a younger brother Steve and a younger sister Karen, who we played with for years in both of our yards, and around the neighborhood.  Larry's dad, Walt owned and operated the Phillip's 66 Filling Station on the NW corner of the Hwys 69 and 92 intersection.  (Steve Aldridge's dad, Al, ran the Conoco gas station on the SW corner of the intersection, which my father later bought to move his real estate business into . . . and Doug Cloud's dad, Al, owned and operated the Maid Rite on the SE corner of that intersection--two doors south of that is where Bob Dillard and his family lived--but I do digress . . . )  Larry's mom Ramona and our mom 'coffeed' frequently, and our families enjoyed barbecues and other family evenings together.
