Surprisingly the regatta went off as planned. The forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms didn't materialize. Even though a little on the chilly side the skies were generally blue and the wind squirrelly at times. However, we did get in the twelve races in a very reasonable time frame. We were pleased to have several guests today from as far away as Vancouver, British Columbia. In fact one of the guests wound up in the money.

Congratulations to Don Frakes, Pete Kruse and guest Don Marshall for their first, second and third place finishes. The results for the remainder of the field along with all the details can be accessed below:

Thanks to Rich Frauenzimmer for conducting today's event and to John Cameron for assisting.

This is the day we've been waiting for all year. It was warm with nice breezes.

Congratulations to Shoe, Don Frakes and Bill Ostic for their first, second and third place finishes. A special congratulations to Bill. Quite an acheivement as this was essentially the first time his new Soling has been in the water.

The results for the remainder of the field along with all the details can be accessed below:

Thanks to Erwin De Roggenbuke and John Cameron for conducting and assisting, respectively,  with today's regatta.

The wind conditions were outstanding for the Solings.  Very breezy with gusts up to 15 miles per hour. This was one of the most enjoyable regattas to sail in in recent times that most could remember. In addition, the sportsmanship was admirable.

Congratulations to Shoe, Don and Pete for their first, second and third place finishes, respectively.

John Cameron  was the Race Director and did a great job in running his first regatta by himself, calling and recording the line with no assistance.

Just a reminder that if you do not have a boat that is scheduled for a regatta, please volunteer to help run the regatta.  The club is encouraging more skippers to get involved with regattas; contact Pete, Fred or Don and reserve a regatta that you are interested in getting involved with.

See ya at the pond!

Another good day for Solings. We had five skippers compete in what had to be one of the best regattas ever. The sportsmanship was superb.

Winds were fairly steady at four to five mph with gusts to fifteen. Wind direction was another story. Getting to the first mark was challenging as ever but today the finish was added to the challenging category too.

We were pleased to welcome Don Marshall from the Desert Hot Springs area who competed today and club member Todd Raines who took part in his first regatta.

Also for the first time we used a two minute start clock. It worked out so well that it will become the standard start for all our future regattas and points races.

Congratulations to Don Frakes, Don Marshall and Gene Graham for their first, second and third place finishes, respectively.

Thanks to David Radell, Herb Martin and Don Krueger for helping me with today's event.

An A.L.S. walk at the park today severely limited the parking today and an expected field of eight dwindled to just four hearty hikers. Conditions were pretty good and competition spirited. It's too bad Shoe had to drop out because of electrical problems. The results for the entire field are shown below:

This last Soling regatta for the 2011 season was under the direction of Bert Hawkins, the recently appointed Soling 1 M Race Director. Thanks Bert for a well run regatta and thanks to David Radell for assisting.
