The Life of Theresa Jo Bowers
November 18, 1951 - July 9, 2020

On July 9, 2020, Theresa Jo Bowers, favorably known at TJ, joined her heavenly family.

She was a Native Texan, born and raised in Irving.  She was a proud Mother of two daughers and a devoted wife of 38 years to her husband Al.

She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Irving, where she passionately served others for the Shepherd's Care Team, Ashes To-Go program, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

She was an energetic , fun, loving woman, who enjoyed God's beautiful nature.

She had quite the "Green Thumb" and grew many plants from seeds for the garden and for gifts to others.

Her faith is a living example of her favorite bible verse, Exodus 14:13-"Fear not, Stand Firm, and See the Salvation of the Lord."

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Al Bowers, two daughters and sons-in law, Rachel and Travis Aponte, Allison and Chris Bobe, her three (soon to be four) grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Bobe, Catherine Aponte, her mother, Marie Grimes, and her sister Cecilia Webb and husband David.  As well as many extended family members.

In-Lieu of flowers, Theresa has requested donations to be made to the Childrens's Ministry of the Chapel Renewl Fund at First United Methodist Church of Irving.

I was friends with with Theresa from the time I entered Irving public schools.  She was such a fixture in my life and so much fun.  I remember crazy slumber parties, and Halloween antics and tons of us packed into her parents' den writing ballots for a contest for KLIF - I think it was for your school to win a visit from the DJs.  She had the most PATIENT parents!

We reconnected after college and my divorce and had great times.  When I remarried and she married, we lost track of each other but Theresa was the kind of person that you could pick up your friendship exactly where it left off, even if it had been years.

My sincere condolences to her husband, children and grandchildren, her Mom and her sister and her family.  The world is a lesser place without her.

Had many fun times with Theresa starting in grade school. Spent hours playing games at her house and running through her neighborhood. Went on a long vacation with she and the family to Taos, Pala Duro Canyon, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Badlands and Mt. Rushmore. A trip that sticks in my memory until this day. Made my first airplane trip with the Grimes family (her Dad worked for Branniff). We played countless games of softball  in our back yards and with teams.  As with most people, I lost track of Theresa, but memories of our times together will never be lost. RIP, Theresa.
