Mr. Mathies went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2019 in Dallas, TX.

He was born on September 12, 1952 in Kansas City, KS to Henry Edward Mathies and Margaret Ellen Hays Mathies.

Mike grew up in Kansas City until the family moved to Irving when he was a teenager. He graduated from Irving High School. On July 7, 1972 he married Pamela Sue Vaughan and they raised three children. Mike was a member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church where he was involved in the youth ministry. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and was involved with baseball youth leagues as a coach. He was a great influence in the lives of young people. Mike was a family man, loved spending time with his grandchildren and he was a great friend. Mike loved his family and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Mathies of Kaufman; children: Douglas and Glenda Mathies of Mabank, Veronica Mathies of Frisco, Connie and Vince La Flower of Grand Prairie; grandchildren: Kody, Dakota and Hunter, his parents, Henry and Margaret Mathies; brother, Keith Mathies; sisters: Mignon Simmons, Donna Eden and Sandy Fifer.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Haven of Memories in Canton.
