
Sandra (Sandi) Gale Murray Chester
Sandra (Sandi) Gale Murray Chester died on Friday, November 3rd, 2006 at her home in Sulphur Springs TX at the age of 54. Sandi’s family remember her as a loving daughter, a supportive sister, a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a doting grandmother.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 7th, 2006 at 10 a.m. at New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Jordan officiating. Interment followed at Restlawn Memorial Park with her nephews and brothers-in-law serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons and Elders at New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church.
Sandi spent the past seven years as the office manager of the New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, though her job title does not begin to capture the length or breadth of her work on behalf of her church, which was a sincere labor of love for her.
In addition to her job as office manager, she was a dedicated and engaged member of New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church for more than 12 years. Sandi worked tirelessly in a number of varying roles on behalf of her church, ministering whenever there was a need, and often arriving early in the morning and not returning home until late in the evening.
Sandi was born in Dallas, TX on December 6, 1951 to O.C. and Dessie Patterson Murray. On June 27, 1969 she married Maxie Chester.
She is survived by her husband, Maxie Chester of Sulphur Springs; her mother, Dessie Murray of Sulphur Springs; son, Jimmy Chester and wife Beatrice of Dallas, TX; daughter Dusty Sheffield and husband Blake of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Patrick, Becket, and Lillian Chester; sisters, Judy Cullers and husband Cullen of Dallas, and Paula Murray of Sulphur Springs; her special friends Jay and Pat Murray of Sulphur Springs, and her ( spiritual daddy) Ray Duck. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Chester of Sulphur Springs, sisters-in-law, Tonjia Lee and husband Robert of Sulphur Springs, Vickie Wilcox and husband Mike of Dallas, TX and Teena Romans and husband Robert of Dike, TX, brother-in-law, Andy Chester and wife Glynda of Sulphur Springs, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, O.C. Murray, her maternal grandparents, Claudy and Lutie Patterson, and her father-in-law, Jay Chester.
Memorials may be made in the name of Sandi to the children’s group at New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church, 155 N. Jackson, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
