David Slavik

David Slavik, age 61 of Irving, died July 1, 2014. He was born to David JohnSlavik and Gwendolyn Berry on January 11, 1953 in Dallas. David was a 1970 Irving High School graduate and an Irving resident for 49 years. He was a proud member of the Single Action Shooting Society for 15 years and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. David enjoyed doing leatherwork, working on model airplanes, and watching movies. David loved Texas, he was a cowboy at heart. He is preceded in death by his mother and will be dearly missed by his son Mitchell Slavik of Euless; father David Slavik of Irving; sister Mitzi Slavik and husband Ricky Emmons of Irving; brother John W. Slavik and wife Karen of Highland Park; niece Erin Slavik and nephew Matthew Slavik. A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2 PM at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation was one hour prior to service at 1 PM.

I met David in my history class at Bowie Jr. High.  Because my maiden name was Hamilton, he would call me Alex, short for Alexander.  David tried my patience then and in high school.  Sorry he is no longer with us.
