

Roger Dale Davenport was born September 13, 1952 and passed away on November 12, 1971 in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam. Roger attained the rank of Private First Class in the Army. The cause was non-hostile accidental ground casualty.

I was in Viet Nam the same time as Roger. Although he was in the Army and I was in the Air Force, I ran into him at the BX in Siagon. I always wondered about him. I was wounded in 1972, but I got to come home. Visit the wall if you get a chance, our generation gave up a lot.

Whenever I go to Washington DC I always visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and three of my buddies whose names are immortalized there. Roger is the first of my classmates that I know of to have lost his life in that war and it will be an honor and a privilege to visit him at the Irving Veteran Memorial.
