Floyd Bryant

From Brown's Funeral Home & published in The Irving Rambler:

"Uncle” Floyd Bryant left this world to begin his eternal life in Heaven on April 30, 2010. Upon arrival, it is certain that he was immediately embraced by his loving family members including his mother, father, and sister. Floyd was born January 29, 1951 and spent his entire life in Irving.

He dedicated 35 years of service to the City of Irving and retired in 2004 as a mechanical supervisor. Over the years, Floyd formed many relationships with his coworkers and cherished their friendship. In his private life, Floyd was deeply loved as he was truly one of the best men of our times. He was always there for everyone, regardless of what the situation might be. Uncle Floyd was known for his ability to fix your vehicle over the phone, and for that many are thankful. Uncle Floyd was a source of advice, support, and guidance for the family. He would always take the time to listen and then help you in any way that he possibly could.

Although he never married or had children of his own, many thought of Uncle Floyd as a father figure and all the children in the family knew that he loved them deeply. Uncle Floyd was passionate about Nascar and was an avid collector of model cars. He loved cats and dogs and provided a home to many over the years. Uncle Floyd was a unique person in that he always cared for others before himself. He especially loved Christmas time, and the family knows that he is now surrounded by beauty in the majesty of Heaven.

He is preceded in death by his mother Patsy Jo Kelly Bryant and father J.B. Bryant, and sister Kathy Dodson. Floyd is survived by his sister Robbie Mourning, nieces Angie Primm, April Mourning, and Amber Newman; nephew Jeff Baker, great nieces Sarah Primm, Misty Mourning, and Avery Newman; and great nephews Maxx Primm, Logan Baker, and Ian Newman.

Graveside services held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 5, 2010 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. Visitation held 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Debbie Bryant Rodriguez, Class of '69, was his cousin.
