In Memory

Justin Bannert

Justin Bannert6-14-2005 was the date of death on his obituary. I think we all know by now that Justin tragically took his own life. He was so sweet.

Does anyone at all have any details about his death? Bannert was a good kid who sadly was bullied alot when he was younger and even more sadly, quite often by myself and the friends I associated myself with while at JMS.

If there was anything about my early teen years that I could take back, it would definetly have been this and since learning of his death a few weeks ago, I've had a tough time coping with the way I used to treat him when we were kids.

My condolences to his family and friends who may or may not be reading this.

We hardly spoke in high school, but I do recall him being very active in JROTC: acheiving the rank of Battlion XO during our Senior year.

Justin and I were in JROTC together. We shared the rank of Battalion Commander. He was a very good person. He was shy but I considered him my friend. He even sent me flowers one time. He wrote in my yearbook, "MAdron, It's been nice knowing ya, hope to possibly see ya again." I was living in Ohio at the time of his death and we lost contact after high school. My only regret was not staying in touch with him. We were part of the Raider team together.I enjoyed every minute we spent together in JROTC.
He lived with his grandmother and really didn't have that big of a family. So in a sense the JROTC was a huge part of his family. He is sadly missed.
I have tried locating his death date but have been unsuccessful. His death should be a learning lesson to all.
To his family: I am very sorry for your loss.

Justin's death was 6-14-05. I found his obituary on the internet. There are no details. He was a very sweet guy but very shy. I was extremely surprised when I heard the news, which sadly, was only this year. It saddens me terribly to think he might not have felt he could turn to anyone for help. We should all make sure we respect others. You never know how much what we do affects others.
If anyone is ever thinking they can't cope, I would always hope they know there is someone out there who cares! There is always someone!
