I think about David Jackson from time to time. Most people don't know this, but David & I grew up together. His sister, Mandi Fielder (now Massie) & I were best friends throughout elementary. David, Mandi, James Cone, and my brother were a circle of friends in our, out in the sticks, neighborhood. I have some great memories of David. One is when one time he was doing Tae Kwon Do moves on us and he totally had me pinned down and farted on my head; I think we were 9 or 10. For many years, we all played jokes on each other-it was HILARIOUS! I was protective of him at the skating rink and enjoyed many summers riding our bikes up & down the dirt roads & the 'milky way'. I always loved & cared for him because of our friendship. David was very much like a brother to me. David was a funny guy and I will always cherish the memories we all had. I continue to pray for his family for their strength & comfort.
David and I dated for awhile. My best memory of him is when we went with Carly Ward's family to the cliffs. I don't remember where, but we decided we were going to jump off them. I was scared and kept backing out so he went first. Then when I still wouldn't go, he held my hand and we jumped together. We ended up pretty far apart at the bottom, the water was freezing, and I remember him helping me swim back and climb up those harsh rocks :) He was so great, and sweet, and wonderful. I fell in love that day. I wish things worked out differently. I still have a picture of us jumping. I see it from time to time and can't help but smile. We all miss you David!
