William (Bill) J. Lally, 60, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. Formally of Jacksonville, FL, he moved to Atlanta after graduating from UNF to pursue his law enforcement dream of becoming a City of Atlanta police officer with his life long friend Mike Smith. A man of integrity and hard work, Bill served on the Bomb Squad and SWAT team, and was later promoted to Robbery & Homicide Detective. After retiring from the City of Atlanta, he moved to Ft. Myers and spent the last 20 years working with the State of Florida Dept. of Corrections as a Correctional Probation Specialist. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Millie Hitzing Lally, two sons: Ross Lally (16) and Ryan Songer (22); father, William Kenneth (Martha) Lally; three brothers: Mike (Debbie), Pat (Jessica) and Matthew Lally; and two sisters: Kathy Williams and Kate Lally. He was preceded in death by his wonderful mother, Joan Richardson.
