John Matthew Brennan, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, February 13th, after a lengthy illness. John was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and a friend to everyone he met. He coached Little League baseball and YMCA basketball for 20 years and was loved deeply by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Bryan Brennan, and is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Denise, his sons Matthew (Lauren) and Patrick, brother Michael (Katie), and sisters Bryan (John) Nackashi, Pat (Bo) Phelan, Julie (Art) Tolis, and many nieces and nephews. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, February 17th at 5:30 pm on the river in San Marco at 907 Mapleton Terrace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to River City Church or Riverside Presbyterian Day School.
