Anne Richardson (Teacher)

Miss Anne Eldred Richardson, 89, retired educator passed away peacefully Monday, July 7, 2003 in Lumberton, NC after a brief illness. Miss Richardson was born March 31, 1914 in Dania County, Florida to Birdie and Henry Richardson. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida until recently, and taught history at Panama Park Elementary, Julia Landon Junior High and Samuel Wolfson Senior High in Jacksonville. She received a BA and MA degree from the University of Florida, and did post-graduate work in history at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado and the American University in Washington, D.C. She was an accomplished gardener, artist, and a dedicated member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. Miss Richardson was a beloved sister, aunt and resident of Woodhaven Nursing Home, Lumberton, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pauline Brown, two brothers, Dr. James Richardson and Henry Richardson. She is survived by a sister, Gladys Richardson of Lumberton, NC, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Phoebe Richardson of Laurinburg, NC, a nephew and wife, Dr. & Mrs. David Richardson of Lumberton, NC as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10 at 11:30 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida by the Rev. Ken Meyers. Arrangements by HARDAGE-GIDDENS Hendricks Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida.
