Margaret Rancour (Teacher)

Mrs. Margaret B. Rancour of Jacksonville, FL died Monday, August 13th, 2007 at age 79 in St. Luke's Hospital following a prolonged illness. Her husband, Dr. Laurance E. Rancour, and two sons, Thomas E. Rancour and Stephen L. Rancour preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Aymar. She is also survived by her seven children, Carolyn Rancour (Rick Turnbaugh), Mary Brown, Colleen Cole (Robert), Catherine Kreisel (Melvin), Rosemary Dausy (Robert), Paul Rancour and Daniel Rancour (Debbie). She had 14 grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rancour was a dedicated member of San Jose Catholic Church and a lifetime member and past president of AAUW. She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN with a BA. After moving to Jacksonville, she taught in the Duval County School System. She later became secretary at Jacksonville Community Foundation until retirement. She continued to play bridge and attend book meetings. She enjoyed her orange, tangerine, and grapefruit trees in her backyard. Her enthusiasm while on her computer was tireless and she never retreated from the prospect of learning something new. The family will receive friends Friday, August 17th, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue. The Homegoing Celebration will take place at San Jose Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 18th, 2007, with Father Jim Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
