Christopher Warren [Chris] Parker

I roomed with Johnny at Georgia Tech when we were freshman. We had a great time together while we were there. I can tell you he was enjoying his life up to the last minute. He died tragically in a car accident shortly after graduation in Atlanta.

"Friends to the very end!" That phrase was the first thing that came to my mind after my Mother called me in California with the news of Johnny's death and before I broke down. Little did I know when Johnny coined that phrase towards the end of a rollicking night after a Grace Chapel dance, that the end would come so soon. Ironically, the phrase came about after he pulled me off the hood of a car that I'd fallen onto as it was speeding away from Grace Chapel. You can imagine the state of mind we were in. Never-the-less, in our eyes he had heroically saved my life and we spent the rest of the night boisterously proclaiming we'd be "friends to the very end," and we were.

A great guy who loved life, and those who were fortunate to be part of his life, loved him. Too many memories to share here, but see the high school memory in Tommy Bayer's profile for another classic Johnny story!

A class act and good friend for many of us. I went all 12 years with Johnny. I remember most our senior year and the car pool of Johnny, Bill Calhoun, Joe Miller, and Tom Harkness.

I was at Ga Tech with Johnny and Chris at the same time. What a great guy and a tragic end right at the time that was supposed to be the beginning . . .
