Adopted at birth by his parents, Waldemar Carl and Mary Louise Edmondson Johnson, who predeceased him, Jerry is also survived by his biological family, with whom he was reunited in 2009. Jerry was born on March 17, 1951, in Tifton, GA, and raised in Jacksonville, FL. A 1973 graduate of the University of South Florida, he worked as a claims adjuster with Allstate Insurance Company in Orlando. During that time, he took up audio recording as a hobby, later opening Ambidextrous Recording Studios, which he owned & operated for 10 years. In 1985, Jerry received a call to Christian ministry and the next year entered seminary at Emory University s Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. He was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1988 and earned his Master of Divinity degree cum laude in 1989. He was honored by the university as an outstanding and innovative preacher in 1990 and was named to Who's Who in Religion in 1992. Jerry pastored several churches in North Florida before being appointed to the Temple Terrace United Methodist Church in June 2000. After 20 years of faithful service to the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, he retired in 2008 to his dream home on the Hillsborough River. Jerry always considered himself just an old rock n roller who fell in love with Jesus. He loved the ocean, engaging in deep theological discussions, listening to rock music, spending time with his family, and reading by the river. A service of worship and celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, August 9, 2013, at Branch of Christ Church, 23604 SR 54, Lutz, FL 33559. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Branch of Christ Church in Jerry's honor. Words of comfort may be expressed at blountcurryterraceoaks.com. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7).

I don't come to this site often, so I was sad to see the passing of an old friend. Jerry Played organ in a band I was in, in high school. He was always a fun and positive guy to be around. I'm sorry that the world has lost another positive force.
