Shirley Ann Luke (Richardson) VIEW PROFILE

Shirley was born in Miami, Fla. on December 15, 1951 to Kenneth E. and Janet Teague Luke. She departed this life on October 1, 2014 surrounded by her family who loved her so much. She graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School in 1969, and from Florida Junior College's first graduating class for their dental assisting program in 1970. Over the years she worked in a dental office and for Prudential Insurance Company at Jacksonville, Fla. before starting a family. Later, after her daughters were older, she was employed by Sheltering Arms Hospital, Richmond, Va. and the Medical College of Virginia. Back in Jacksonville after fifteen years in Midlothian, Va., she was employed at Baptist Beaches Hospital in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. until retiring in 2010. Shirley, known affectionately by many as Shirl, and Rob were married in Southside Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla. on March 25, 1972, and remained active there until 1979 when they became members of All Souls Episcopal Church in Mandarin, Fla.. After relocating to Virginia in 1984, she was a communicant at Christ Church, Episcopal, then after returning to Florida in 1999 was an active member of Calvary Episcopal Church which became Our Savior Anglican at Jacksonville Beach, Fla. Her highest calling was wife, mother and the best grandma in the whole world. She was quiet and reserved in her manner and demeanor, and bold and courageous in her caring and loving kindness that she lavished on her family and all of those she was close with over the years. She is survived by her mother, father and his wife Martha; her sisters Norma Nauman ( Buddy ), Linda Wallace ( Scott ); nephew Devin; her husband Rob; daughters Heather Shibley ( Trey ), Danna Burgess ( Ashley ); grandchildren, Mason, Hailey, Laine and Alexis; and brother-in-law Bruce Richardson. A memorial service and inurnment was held November 1, 2014 in Richmond, Va.  Too young, as with the others who have left.  I pray the Lord's comfort and blessings on her family.

I remember Shirley well.  Such a sweet person, always so enthusiastic and upbeat.  I pray that her family finds comfort in that one day they will be reunited again.

So sorry I won't see this sweet person at a reunion.  I sure remember this face.
