Howard was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He served in the United States Air Force, fought during the Vietnam War, and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after 28 years of service. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Honeywell Aerospace. His family remembers him as an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was buried with full military honors in Graceland East Memorial Park, Simpsonville, South Carolina.

I’m sorry to learn that Howard passed away. He and I crossed paths just once after high school at Eielson AFB, Alaska early in our Air Force careers. I remember at the time that he impressed me as an outstanding young airman, and I’m not surprised that Howard went on to serve our country with distinction. I regret that I never got to know him better.
