Mr. Doug Stanton, 47, of Lake City died Sunday evening, February 28, 2010 at Shands in Gainesville following a lengthy illness. A native of Gainesville, Doug grew up in Jacksonville and moved to Lake City in 1995. Doug worked for Farmers Furniture in management for the past 15 years, and was named Group Manager of the Year in 2005.

A family man, Doug was always planning vacation camping trips with his family, and also enjoyed Kayaking and many water sports. Doug enjoyed taking care his family and friends and spending quality time with all of them. Doug was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City, and was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline Stanton in 2006.

Doug is survived by his wife of 25 years, Amy Stanton of Lake City; daughter Jessica Caroline Stanton of Mississippi; two sons, Jordan Edwin Stanton of Pensacola, and Tucker Douglas Stanton of Lake City; his father, James Stanton of Vero Beach; brothers, Greg Stanton (Pam) of Jacksonville, and Jim Stanton of Melbourne; sister, Cathy Holland ( Dave) of Virginia Beach; brothers and sisters in law, Troy and Kristi Robinson of Lake City, and Brent and Pam Seely of Lakeland; nephews and nieces, Marshall Stanton, John Morgan Stanton, Stephen Holland, Caleb Seely, Spencer Robinson, Ally Robinson, Jacob Seely, Jackson Seely; and lifelong friend Gordon Perkins of Lake City also survives.

Memorial services for Mr. Doug Stanton will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City with Pastor Louie Mabrey officiating and assisted by Gordon Perkins, Greg Stanton, and Jessica Stanton.
