Helen was a dear friend.  We reconnected thorugh bridge when my son was 6 months old (now 44).  We both lived in Orange Park and our children shared many activities (gymnastics, baseball, flag football, soccer).  Our husbands belonged to a bass fishing club.  We were a part of each other's lives until her death.  I still miss her and think of her often to this day.

Helen was I think, the only other diver on the Landon Girls Swim team besides myself.  She was a precious, adorable person.  I remember when she was dating Jay Geisenhoff.  We took a very exciting trip to visit him and his roomate at Florida State in Tallahassee.  It was the first time I had ever heard the music of Stan Getz and Brazilian jazz music. Magic to my 16 year old heart.  Thank you Helen.  God bless!

Helen Brakmann was the cutest, person that I had ever met---- then and now.  When she talked she had a very slight lisp which simultaneously caused her perky nose to move slightly as she talked.  And when she laughed and talked, well,  the orchestration of it all was mesermerizing!  One day in Mrs. McLaughlin's class Helen had to resight something in Shakerspere. ....I don't know....... Mac Beth!   Any way, Helen began: "Is this a dagger which I thee. ( see)  before me ?The handle toward my hand...Come let me clutch thee I have thee not and yet I see ( sthee) the still."  We'll, this proved to be too much for the "Babe". Mrs. Mac slammed the Shakespeare text on the podium and yelled out across the room:  Helen Brakeman ! We" ll have no speech impediments in my class,  I overcame mine 15 yearths ago!"  There was dead silence........... Until I could not refrain myself one second longer.  My laughter rang out into the classroom because during that silence I had been wiping the desk dry with my skirt because dear ole Mrs. Mac had sprayed the first two rows with her lisp........ And I thought it an irony!  She became so red faced that she screamed in my face "Zthero, Zthero , Zthero....out of my class Miss Newcomer.  After that incident Helen and I became pretty good friends.  Helen made an A
