In Memory

John Gates

John passed away on March 4, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. He had a rare form of leukemia and felt he would not live out the year.   He was offered the opportunity to participate in stem cell transplant which could have extended his life by 10 years.   The transplant was a success, but unfortunately he developed multiple complications two of which were cardiac arrest and renal   failure.   He fought so hard, but he passed away after a hard fought battle.   Both his son and daughter were at his bedside. His beloved wife succeeded him death.
John enlisted in the Navy after college and upon completion of his duty, he continued to work for the government.   He was well liked and respected by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life is tentatively planned for April.

Please accept my dearest sympathy to your family. John and I kept in touch threw Facebook--one of the niceest things about it. I enjoyed his pictures of him and his grandchildren--such a blessing. I know he will be missed, but not forgotten.

With love and Prayers, Anita Meide Wolfe

Thoughts and prayers to John's family.  We kept in touch through Facebook, sharing our children and grandchildren's pictures.  John was a very kind person and one I respected greatly.  I know your hurts are hurting from his absence.  May God hold you all tightly in His loving hands.

Sincerely,

Jean Molter Yontz

Johnny was such a smart, sweet guy! I enjoyed his friendship our senior year, and we enjoyed reminiscing at our 55th year reunion. I suspect you kids have lost a champion father. But he will always be with you. Just over your shoulder.

John Gates was an all around great guy and classmate.  Always smiling and positive.  John was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back.  He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.  Johnny you will be missed.  GOD be with you always.
