Bummer.  June grew up in my neighborhood and I had a big crush on her when we were growing up but I never told her.  She was a sweetheart - I hate news like this.

According to June's profile on this Class of '63 website, posted more than 10 years ago, in May 2013, June was living at that time in St. Augustine.with her husband Larry Summers.  She had three children: Josh, born in 1976; and Jamie & Justin, both born in 1977.

A very short obituation published by the Palatka Daily News on June 12th, 2024, said that June crossed over on Sunday, June 9th, at her home in Palatka... about one month shy of her 79th birthday.  No additional information was provided.

June, of course — our classmate and friend, not the month — was one of the people at Landon who seemed to light up whatever space she was in.  I remember her as being always armed with a warm greeting and a radiant smile for everyone she encountered.  In fact, I believe June would have maintained that warm openness and radiant personality
with every encounter, with everyone, over the years and decades following our graduation from Landon's hallowed halls.

Her fond memory will always loom large with me and, I'm sure, with everyone who ever had a chance to share a personal rapport or just a brief encounter with her.  Even now, as I close my eyes and think about June, I see that radiant smile and radiant personality shining through the haze of time.

Fondly,
Lee
