Danny & I grew up across the street from one another. He was my best friend for many years. We played baseball and football together in his front yard growing up and then again at Landon along with playing a lot of stickball in the street. We'd watch baseball and play board games inside. Dan was a good hearted, good natured romantic, a real pleasure to be with, a good friend. I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. I remember in high school we were out one night in his Mom's green '51 Plymouth and Danny was driving. There was a light rain and the roads were slick. We were going down Spring Park Rd and came into a curve, then suddenly spun around a complete 360 and amazingly continued on our way like nothing had happened.  It still amazes me when I think about it today. Danny was a pretty good pitcher in baseball. I remember he was the only guy I knew of who could throw a knuckleball, a lot of them strikes. I remember seeing that ball bounce around in the air heading toward me at the plate. There was no way you could hit it. We reconnected when I was working for Westinghouse in PA and he was the manager of the Elmira Suns in upstate NY. He came down and spent a few days with us in Aston. I didn't see Dan again until our 50th reunion. After that we stayed in touch until this year when I couldn't get ahold of him by email or phone due to his declining health.

Shocking news about Danny.  I too had been in touch with him pretty regularly since our 50 year reunion but then stopped getting replies to my emails.  I thought something must have been wrong and I guess this was why.  I was very sorry to learn of Danny's passing.  He was a great guy.

Danny is one of my fondest memories of Landon, primarily because, as has been previously mentioned, I found him to be always friendly no matter what he was doing. Hard for me to envision him as becoming a minor league general manager, often portrayed as a hard-boiled, pragmatic cynic. I'm also intrigued by The Racing Journal and the Mike Butler Award given to him at Cherokee Speedway in 2010. Peace and blessings to his family.

I was very sad to read about Danny's passing.  Even though I hadn't seen him in 30 or 40 years or more, I always had good memories of Danny's warm, engaging personality and an everpresent smile.  In all of our years together at Landon, I don't remember ever seeing him with a frown or hearing an angry word from him or watching him treat anyone in our class -- or, in any other class at Landon -- with a harsh tone or gesture.  All in all, I feel very fortunate to have known Danny as a classmate, as a friend and as a human being.  So long, Danny, may your journey ahead be rich and rewarding in those things which really matter, on both sides of the portal !

Danny always had a smile and a friendly comment to all. I did not know he served in Vietnam but I will give him the Vietnam Veterans comment " Welcome Home, warrior brother and RIP". May your family find peace and comfort in the days ahead with the knowledge that we will all see each other again.

My prayers and deepest sympathy to Danny's family and friends. I know that his passing has created a great void in your lives. For me, Danny was a good friend during our school years. Even though 50 years passed after graduation before I saw him again, I thought of him often because he was everything everyone has said. I am so thankful for those memories.
