Mary was another one (like Barbara Gorman) that you wanted to be like; elegant, beautiful, and full of grace.  She was a light that shone brightly with us all.

I became very good friends with Mary our junior year and we had a great time at the Tullis' home on the river in Orange Park.  I never could a nd probably did not care why Mary could attend our school because she did not live in the district.

the following year Mary's father died from cancer and I remembered how difficult it was for Mary, her mother and her two older brothers.  When I attended the funeral I could not get over how serenely beautiful Mary looked with mint green eyes full of tears and the heart shaped faced that heightened that ethereal look that was part of her demeanor.  She was a gentle soul who was very kind and attentive and I wondered if our lives would be different.  Oh, I don't know.....it was an emotional time for me and I guess I unwittingly embraced the sadness that penetrated the atmosphere. There.

well, as it turned out,  I was on a dance floor at the Naval Academy and I was dancing with  " my fiancée". I looked over Chick's shoulder as Mary looked over her beau's shoulder and our eyes met.  She held up her hand .... To show me the engagement ring and in turn...... I  returned the same gesture.  We smiled.  I never saw her again.

Yes, I remembered Mary's beauty and in deed she was like a Dresden doll!  But, I mostly remember the depth of her soul which inspired me more than just a beauty.  Bev Newcomer ....... I'll miss you, Mary

Mary, Mary...you are an inspiration to me still today and your life here helped mold me and my life!  You shall be with me always through a multitude of channals.  How blessed I am as I continue knowing and being with your family.  Jimmy and his darling son Jimmy (your nephew), his beautiful wife and thier adorable son and daughter, are like extended family to me through the dear friendship with my daughter and her family.  How your beauty and grace flows through them from you to everyone...Aunt Mary.  I have so very much to be grateful for now as I look forward to each day here, yet when I am called home joining my heavenly Father, you dear friend, and so,so many shall be such a celebration!!!  Kisses into eternity doll baby...
