BREWER John Lanahan Brewer, age 64, died suddenly on January 16, 2009. John was a native of Jacksonville, FL. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald E. Brewer and Mary Lee Lanahan Brewer and his brother, Don Brewer, Jr. John is survived by his son, Jonus O. Brewer, his sister, Margaret Brewer Callaway, his brothers, Thomas F. Brewer and William A. Brewer and sister-in-law, Jerilyn W. Brewer. John was a local insurance executive for numbers of years before managing and owning Labor Finders franchises throughout Florida. Through his life, John's heart was for the disadvantaged and downtrodden. His service activities included the United States Marine Corps, Southside Businessmen's Club, Sertoma and Big Brothers and Big Sisters, but his major service was to anyone in need. A Memorial Service to celebrate John's life will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Christ the King Church, 742 N. Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in John's memory to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Jacksonville, 3100 South University Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32216.
