MARIETTA, Ga. -- Defiance native Wayne LeRoy Brown, 64, Marietta, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008. He was born in Defiance, the son of Wayne and Betty Brown. He married Kathryn Hall, who survives. As a child, he moved to Jacksonville, Fla., and graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1962. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Intelligence Corps in Frankfurt, Germany, and left the service in 1969 as a sergeant. He graduated from linguistics school at Syracuse University. Also surviving are his mother, Duluth, Ga.; two sons, Joseph of Marietta and Wayne Jr., Gainesville, Ga.; two daughters, Renee (Ron) Gerrell of Gainesville and Allison (Steve) Koski, Snellville, Ga.; a brother, Jimmie (Dale), Crescent City, Fla.; four sisters, Patricia Sullivan of Kennesaw, Ga., Mary Jean (Ted) Willis of Buford, Ga., Shirley (Ken) Goss of Duluth and Kathy (Glenn) Widner, Waynesboro, Ga.; and seven grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his father and a sister, Judy Brown. Services were at 12 p.m. today in Woodstock Funeral Home, Woodstock, Ga. Burial will be in Georgia National Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Church Lane, Canton, Ga. Preferred memorials are to Eagle Ranch, Chestnut Mountain, Ga.
