David Alan Weippert, Sr., 73, of Tewksbury, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 in the Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, NJ, David was the son of the late Arthur C. & Mildred Kollmar Weippert. He has lived in Hunterdon County with his family for the past 21 years moving from Minneapolis, MN and Jacksonville, Fla.

David honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1972 and left the service with the rank of Captain. Mr. Weippert retired in 2000 as the Senior Vice President of Information Systems from the Prudential Insurance Company after 39 years of service to the company. A long-time member of the Long Valley Presbyterian Church, David had previously served as an elder, church treasurer, member of the choir and pitcher of the church softball team. Pastor Aaron Nagel of the LVPC has lovingly referred to David as the “Patriarch” of the church. For each of the past 14 years, David faithfully served with his grandchildren in mission to the Dominican Republic through the Foundation For Peace.  In addition to his church activities, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, working on a good crossword puzzle, cheering on the New York Yankee’s and bible studies. David served on the board of missions of the Foundation For Peace and was the Treasurer of the American Veterans Association of Washington Township, Post 1776.

David is survived by his loving wife, LaVerne Jackson Weippert, Three sons; David Alan Weippert, Jr. and his wife, Maria, Derek Adam Weippert, Jason Andrew Weippert and his wife, Allie, & his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Weippert. A brother and sister, Lawrence A. Weippert and Janet L. Keck. Beloved Grandchildren; Jennifer, Jackson, Johnathan, Jessica, Alyssa, Hannah, Emily, Harrison, Christian and Andrew. He was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer Alise Weippert in 1971.

Visitation will take place at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ, 07840 on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 17, 2018 in the Long Valley Presbyterian Church, Long Valley, NJ. Interment with military honors will follow at the German Valley Cemetery in Long Valley, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Foundation For Peace, P.O. Box 424, Ironia, NJ, 07845.
