Mike helped me make my decision to become a Marine. Both of our fathers were Marines and as we would do later, our fathers served together. I went to boot camp with Ciccarelli 4 days after high school graduation. His desire to be the best poured on everyone as we went through the hardships of training. After graduation in August both of our fathers were two of the happiest men on Earth. He and I became brothers that day and kept in close contact. The weekend before he was killed, he and I got together in his favorite bar the Northwoods Tavern. After a few drinks and before we left eachother for the last time, he told me how much he loved our Corps and that he could not wait to get to the sand box and take our fathers place defending our country. In 2005 I left one of his medals underneath the sand in Iraq, that is where he wanted to be. He was an inspiration to me and will be missed very much. Rest in peace brother and continue to watch over us.
