Last night we took the kids to one of those indoor play places for them to burn off some energy...and in the corner, sat Galaga, MS Pacman, Donkey Kong and Centipede arcade machines. I got a pocket full of quarters and went to town. All I needed was my roller skates on and Duran Duran playing in the background and i would have sworn i was 15 again!!

Jen,
We have a Galaga machine next to my office at the "Pump It Up", and last year I flipped the score over with my high score. Yeh, that's right! I still got it! Up for a challenge?
Bring your quarters...
See you cats Saturday!

Hey everyone! The new location sounds great, and glad to hear there is a large response overall.

FYI, to anyone who is interested, there are two hotels within about a mile of The Underground, (1) The Proximity and (2) The O'Henry. Both are great hotels, The O'Henry is a little more traditional and The Proximity is more modern.

I have a corporate rate at The Proximity of $179, and I called to see if they would match it for anyone else from the group that wants to stay close on Friday and/or Saturday night. It's kinda expensive, but a cut rate of about $50/nt from regular rates, and the place is supposed to be super-nice. They are going to call me in the morning to let me know how many rooms they have and if they will match the rate. I'll post an update as soon as I hear.

OK Chip...i'll bring my quarters, just in case we run into a Galaga machine over the weekend...

Joe,
This is good stuff on The Proximity. Also, everyone, don't forget to check out the "Places to Crash" tab, under the "RHS Photo Album"...for those of you coming in town.
See you at The Underground!

Chip and Jennifer, that is so funny you are talking about that. This grill up the road from me just removed Galaga and Mrs Pacman and replaced it with some dumbass shooting game. Needless to say, I had to raise some HELL about that!

A bunch of us used to hang at The Galaxy on Tate Street. We would play pool and Galaga for hours. Chad Meadows and I would cheat. One of us would steer the ship and the other would just fire constantly. We always had the high score!

The Underground looks great! Thanks to whomever made that suggestion. I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone!

Steve that sounds like a great technique! we should get together and try that sometime, you know i'm always looking for an excuse to come to greensboro!

Hey gang,

I talked to the Group Sales coordinator at The Proximity, which is the closest hotel to the Underground. They have offered a rate of $179 to anyone that wants to stay on either Friday and/or Saturday night. They are a little more expensive than some of the others in town, but this is a cut rate of about $80 from what someone else in the class was quoted from them last week, and it's about a two minute drive or cab ride from the event Saturday night (super-cheap cab ride).

The hotel is really new, and supposed to be very nice from people I have talked to in G'boro. If you want to check in out, their website is www.proximityhotel.com.

To get the rate, you just need to call the reservation desk at 336-379-8200 (toll-free 1-800-379-8200) and tell them you are with the Ragsdale Reunion. If any questions come up, you can tell them Beth Sinnott was the hotel representative who confirmed the rate for the group.

Hope to see you all there.

Joe P.

Can someone post the address to send $ for the picnic here?

Hey Suzanne, home page says to just bring the money to the park that day. We're just supposed to RSVP to Tracy B. ahead of time. Look forward to seeing you there.

Hey Chip,

Do you have any of our old teachers that will be chaperoning the roaming of the halls?

Beth Beisner (Kallam)

Hi Everyone!!!! Our reunion is a week away, I can't believe it. So, we still haven't gotten in touch with everyone so please scan the list of profiles and see who hasn't signed up. Contact them if you know where they are. It's looking like a nice weekend, high 70's low 50's. So maybe we can break out the jeans for the football game. Golfers make sure that umbrella is in your golf bag, just in case. And Sat. night, dress up, we only see each other every 5 years at least. Of course casual is fine too.

See you all soon!!!!

Beth

Hey everyone!! Just checking out everyones profiles & pictures after I just added my profile, with pictures attached. I hope to be able to attend the game & tailgate party Oct.17. There's alot of memories coming back from reading classmates names & seeing our Graduation announcement, still can't believe it's been 20 years. "I wanna go back"

Ronda Jiles (Valentine)

Hello to all of you. This is Ronda Jiles Valentine. I don't know if any of you remember, but I used to be on the track team along with Tasha Clark and a few others. If you take a look, there is a picture of me passing the baton to Tasha at a track meet in the year book. Take a look at my profile and pictures. Wow I've changed. I'm currently (as you can see) in the military and have been practically since a few months before we graduated. I'll retire in about 5 1/2 - 6 years. I'm currently trying to finish my degree. The military takes a lot out of you, yet gives you a since of duty, honor, and respect for some of the most basic things in life. I finished my 1st tour in Iraq Dec. 24, 2007 and its almost time to go back. I experienced alot over there more so than I thought possible and yet walked away with my health as many didn't and so much more. Military life is not for everyone, but I saw so many civilians that put their lives on hold to go over to Iraq and support the U.S. Troops. That totally blew me away because I thought that only soldiers were there trying to make a difference. Yeah, believe or not this girl held her own. Thank God I didn't have to hurt or kill anyone, but there were many opportunities where that could have happened. I had a good team that knew their surroundings and had experience from previous deployments so that played a big part in our safety. I was never scared going over there, until I actually got into their airspace; then it sank in that I was in a war zone. My first mission outside the gates was pretty scary, but I said my team kept me in check and showed me the ropes otherwise I don't know how I would have made it. STAY IN TOUCH!!!! I MISS ALL OF YOU!

Betsy Bailey (Morrissey)

Ronda, thank you for your service in the military. I totally respect, admire and appreciate all that our military men and women do to keep our country safe. It was touching to hear a brief bit of what you have experienced over there, things you don't hear in the news. Take care and be safe. Thanks again!! All of you RULE! ;)

Chip Campbell

Hey Janet,
We have our fellow classmates, Donnie Maness and Melissa Williamson helping us out. They currently are employed at Ragsdale, so they volunteered. That's a good thought about old teachers do it, though. Maybe we'll do that next year for those who missed it this year.

See you there!

10/11/08 10:04 PM #95

Ronda Jiles (Valentine)

Hi Guys/Gals:

If anyone knows a fellow classmate that is specifically in the United States Army just let me know and I can locate them through the Army's Email system provided they are still using their original last name and are still serving/retired. Its a start and may generate more contact information. My email addresses are: ronda_valentine@sbcglobal.net and Ronda.D.Valentine@us.army.mil.

Ronda Jiles (Valentine)

What's been going on with our old (oops - no pun intended) teachers? Any status on them? Mrs. Lucas, Ms. Henry, Mr. Zydek, Coach Kautz, Ms. Lockett, Coach Haney?

10/11/08 10:48 PM #97

Chip Campbell

Hey Rhonda,
Coach Haney passed away a few weeks ago. I saw a few people from our class there, but not many. It was a great service, in a small setting, and embarked on what a passionate teacher and coach, Jerry Haney was. His dry humor and class conduct will forever be missed by many. You can email Jonathan from his profile to talk more.

Great to hear you're doing so well with the Army and God bless you and the time you have given to our country.

All my best...

Lori Bryant (Burbank)

Rhonda, thanks so much for reaching out to all of us. It was great to get your message. Take care and thank you for your service. You do make us proud.

Hi everyone,
I won't be able to make it to the reunion so have fun, but not too much fun. :-) Joe Parrish and I go to the same church so I'm sure he will give me a full update.
I'll miss seeing you guys.

Seeing everyone through this website and getting caught up has been really special. I'm glad the world is becoming a smaller place. Please keep updating your profiles long after the reunion has passed. It's so much fun to read what everyone is doing and to see pictures of the people who knew us first!! Take care, Lori

10/13/08 11:00 PM #99

Chip Campbell

Lori,
We plan to take bunch of pictures from this weekend and I will put them as a link on the website, so those who missed this weekend, will still be able to get a glimpse of what went on. We also may make a 20th Reunion CD for everyone to purchase, so be on the lookout for that, too!
Sorry we won't get to see you this weekend.
In peace,
Chip
