After reading through the comments posted from many of you from the class of '82, my memory was flooded with all the fun times we had with Lamont. The trouble that we got in, that led to more trouble (detention that led to cleaning out the bus garage that led to Lamont backing a bus out of the garage into the front end of a car belonging to a bus driver....) Our attempt at a junior class skip day.... Lamont trying to teach a 20 year old Ag teacher how to teach ag....Lamont showing us how to ski out at the Quade's cabin on Lake Shetek....Lamont and his brother Clayton visiting me in Alaska and his 'sea legs' (or lack there of) on a halibut fishing trip where he spent more time praying to the sea gods over the side of the boat than he did fishing.....

Lamont left us all too soon. I wasn't able to attend his funeral, however, Ray and Carol shared with me the memories of that day. Although it has been 13 years since we all lost a friend and classmate, I think of him often - and every time I hear Garth Brooks' song, "The Dance".

You were the best of friends to many of us, Lamont. We miss you.

My memories of LaMont (a.k.a. "Sweet Lou") always include him smiling--he was quick to laugh--often times at himself/his own antics. Though we did not keep in touch after graduation, it was always a joy to see him on my ocassional vists back to Storden...he always made it a point to spend some time to get caught up. He was a "class" guy--and would have enjoyed our upcoming reunion a greast deal! He will be missed...
