Travis Wade Atwood, 48, of Idaho Falls, was taken away unexpectedly from this world on Dec. 26, 2016.
Travis came into this world on Sept. 26, 1968. He was born in Jerome, Idaho, to Mike Atwood and Kathy Mogenson. The oldest of three children, Travis was full of life and energy from day one.
Travis had an infectious personality that could charm the hardest of souls and turn them into a lifelong friend. His wit and snappy sayings would always make a lifelong impression on anyone he crossed paths with. He had a passion for people that was evident in his early years growing up in Jerome. Always the life of the party he was involved in as many things as he could be. His time was spent following many of his passions and interests. He spent the majority of his time as a young man rodeoing, hunting, trapping, and especially loved fishing.
One of his other passions was his family. He was the leader and protector of his two younger siblings Ryan Atwood and Candice Atwood-Gordon. Many fond memories are had of Travis and Ryan showing their younger sister Candice the ropes of becoming an adult whether it was locking her in the hot tub or using her to help get the attention of the local young ladies. Unfortunately the loss of his younger brother Ryan at a young age left an everlasting hole in Travis' heart but his memories where carried on for the remainder of Travis' years on this earth.
After high school Travis married Leanne Aslett with whom he had two children. Michael Ryan Atwood is the spitting image of Travis, who held a special place in his heart so much he named him after his own father and brother. Next to enter his life would be his first daughter Shelbie Aslett who would come to carry on Travis' beautiful smile and outgoing personality. Later on in life Travis would marry Terry McArdle with whom he had his third child Megan Atwood. Megan would quickly become a shining light in Travis' life. She shares his bubbly personality and easy going attitude that Travis had gotten from his own mother.
Eventually Travis would go on to meet the love of his life Shawna Atwood. He would spend his remaining years sharing many special moments with her. Their adventurous personalities allowed them to share many experinces and memories such as traveling with their children and grandchildren or family fishing trips in Alaska. One thing that could never be mistaken was Travis' love for his family. You would notice it in his eyes as he spoke about his wife or children or as one of his grandchildren would call him Papa Trav.
Travis Atwood was a born businessman and used his skills to pursue a career in the aviation industry. Aviation was a passion for Travis that had been handed down to him by his father. In all of his years Travis was able to work with many companies in the aviation industry, using his networking skills and outgoing personality to provide the highest level of service to customers and employers alike. There was no end to his energy, commitment, and love for the aviation industry. Travis Atwood was a larger than life personality who's passion, humor, and love will be greatly missed by all that knew him or had the pleasure to meet him.
Travis was preceded in death by his younger brother, Ryan Atwood; grandparents, Homer and Margaret Atwood and Doc and Betty Rash.
He is survived by his wife, Shawna Atwood; father Mike Atwood (Chris Atwood); mother Kathy Mogensen (Bob Mogensen); sister Candice Gordon (Chad Gordon); nephews Jake Hart, Trenton Hart, and Luke Hart; son Michael Atwood (Ashleigh Atwood); grandsons Roper Atwood and Stetson Atwood; daughter Shelbie Aslett Atwood (Sage Nitzel); granddaughter Rowan Aslett; daughter Megan Atwood; daughter Nichole Nash and son Stefan Nash.
