Jesup—Paul Anthony Thomas died Oct. 17, 2013.
He was born Oct. 30, 1970, to Julia Pearl Turnage-Thomas and Denzil Thomas in Jesup. He was a 1989 graduate of Wayne County High School and worked various jobs until his health began to fail. He was a member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church. He coached several years of recreational basketball for the junior boys 79ers and senior boys all-star team. He was an avid sports fan and a die-hard Oakland Raiders fan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia P. Turnage-Thomas, and his eldest brother, Douglas Lynn Thomas.
He is survived by his father, Denzil Thomas Sr., and his stepmother, Laura Thomas; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Melissa, Denzil Jr. and Linda, David and Melissa, Willie and Anita, and Dexter and Shana Thomas; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Knarvie and John Steed, Julia and Vincent Allen, Angela and Booker Wilson, Robin and Bernard Kirkland, and Leila A. Thomas; and a host of aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Oct. 21 at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment was at Sunset Oak Memorial.
Royal Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
