John Gould

Gould, John W.

John Wesley Gould, Jr. was born on December 6, 1943 and passed away quietly after a short illness on November 2, 2019 at his home in The Villages. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Peggy in February of 2019.

John was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army at 17 and traveled the world entertaining the troops with the Army’s Special Services Showmobile Unit for 3 years.

Returning to his home in Kalamazoo, John married and had his first child as he pursued his education. He attained his undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, and then went on to Michigan State University for his Master’s degree in Business.

Wherever John lived, in addition to his work in technological communications, he could always be found at the local community or summer stock theatres. He was also a popular entertainer at community theaters in The Villages. A singer, actor and raconteur, he offered his time for numerous good causes. Always fast with a one-liner or retort, John was a hoarder of obtuse facts and offbeat humor and his laughter could be heard for miles.

John is survived by his sister, Jan Gould of Boynton Beach, Florida; his brother Anthony J. Gould of Todos Santos, Baja Sur, Mexico; and his children, daughters Heidi Marie Ahler of Dallas, Texas; Meghan Katherine Gould, of Roselle, Illinois; sons Trevor Dana and Kevin and daughter Caitlin, all of Chicago.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John`s name to Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
