Funeral services for Carol Jean Allen, 56, Spirit Lake, formerly of Spencer were held Friday, April 14, 2000 at Turner Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. The Rev. Don Dressel officiated the service.

She died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.

Interment was at Northlawn Cemetery in Spencer.

Carol Jean Allen was born on August 5, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to James and Madeline (Brooks) George. She was raised and educated in Kalamazoo, graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. She then went to the Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On November 25, 1962 she married Steven James Allen in Spencer. The couple made their home in Fostoria and Spencer before moving to Spirit Lake in 1970. Carol was a homemaker and in later years. She worked at Crystal Tips, Berkley's and Polaris. She enjoyed helping out with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven and her sister, Janet Wetherbee.

Survivors include her children, Bryan Allen of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Christine Allen of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Thomas Allen of Spencer, Scott Allen, Mark Allen and Sherry Allen all of Spirit Lake; her parents, James and Madeline George, Sr of Kalamazoo, Michigan; siblings, Shirley Menck of Otsego, Michigan, James George of Richland, Michigan and Jack George of Eager, Arizona; sic grandchildren; nephews, nieces and friends
