Notes for March 1, 2010

First, I apologize for not having this information up sooner.  I prefer to use the word "challenging" instead of such words as disastrous, horrible, brain-splitting, etc. as in, "I found last week's demands to be very challenging."

The planning meeting was called to "order" around 7:00 p.m.  A big shout-out to Blake Mathews of "The Sweet Guy" who provided the wonderful location and way too many and too delicious snacks for those in attendance!  The coffee was amazing, as always!  Please support "The Sweet Guy"!

Gladys Sabates Mabry recapped the planning that has already begun emphasizing the need to be in contact with as many of our classmates as possible so that they have access to the information about reunion events.  Several in attendance volunteered to reach out to members of the class of 1970 to get current contact information.  Contact Gladys with updates, please.

Beth Collins spoke about the Reunion Web site.  Please encourage fellow classmates to register on the site.  We hope to have this as a central information space for many years to come.

There were sign up sheets for all of the committees around the room, and while work has begun, more volunteers are needed!  Please consider giving a little of your time so that we all may enjoy the weekend's events. (I have also started Forums for each committee so that members can "talk" to each other through this site.  Let me know if that works or if we need to do something else!)

Howard Hirsekorn spoke about finances.  Of course, charges for events will be determined in large part by the venue we choose for events and the number of people attending.  If you wish to have a say in the event location(s) and activities, please be involved in the committees planning those events.  We have very little reserves from past reunions, but we are planning for the future.  If you wish to work on the finance committee, please let Howard know.

John Taylor (AWOL) was supposed to lead discussion about new business, but there were no new major topics introduced.

General conversation ensued.

If you have any new business you want discussed, please let us know.

Attendees:  Beth Collins, John Collins, Gladys Sabates Mabry, Howard Hirsekorn, Gary Martasin, Roberta Guynn, Kris Whitaker, Connie Swden-Haig, Mike Gortenburg, Daryl Razafsky, Sandy Aguirre Mayer, Marie Satterlee, did I forget anyone???
