Southwest Class of 1970!!!

Reunion Committees are being formed to make sure that we have the greatest reunion yet!  Please consider Chairing or Participating in one or more committees.  We are working to have an organizational meeting in February (hopefully in the Southwest Library!) so that work can continue/begin.   We recommend that committees be made of an odd number of volunteers, in order to avoid deadlocks in decision making.

Gladys Sabates Mabry, Beth Annis Collins and John Taylor are acting as Reunion Steering Committee and we welcome your comments and suggestions!

Ask not what your Reunion can do for you, but what you can do for your Reunion!

In no particular order . . .

 

• Classmate Search Committee - search, call, email and/or text classmates who do not have current contact information in our database.  Chair will compile updated information from committee members to update existing Class of 1970 database.
• Saturday Event Committee- research locations for a main reunion event on Saturday, September 25, 2010.  Chair and committee will make recommendations to Steering Committee about locations, catering options, entertainment (Mike Eaton [Barrett] has volunteered his Band at no cost, decorations, etc.
• Friday Night Event Committee - research format and venues for getting together on Friday, September 24, 2010 - Pub Crawl??? Brookside/Waldo???  Chair will report to Steering Committee about options and logistics
• Sunday Event Committee - research format and venues for getting together on Sunday, September 26, 2010 - format/venue???  Chair will report to Steering Committee about options and logistics
• Photography - Karin Lichterman will call Wilborn Photography, so these arrangements may already be made.  Committee would coordinate and facilitate photography at reunion events.
• Memorabilia - production and sales of Reunion memorabilia, with funding to go to maintaining the Class Web site and current/future reunions (or donation of the choosing of the entire class???)
• Out-of-Towners - Chair and committee will arrange for reduced rates/blocks of rooms available for reunioners coming in from out of town for festivities
• Southwest Tour - Beth Collins to chair (or co-chair if someone feels strongly about this!)  Arrange for alma mater tour for grads, etc. (I took this because I work in the district and because my daughter teachs 9th grade English at SWECC now.)Chair and committee will arrange date/time, etc. of building tour.
• Web site maintenance - Beth Collins is the present reunion Web site administrator, but welcomes any and all who would like to contribute photos (past, present and future), videos (past, present and future)

Many hands make light work, so please consider playing an active role in one or more committee!

More committees may be formed as needs arise.  If you see a need, please do not be shy about talking to the steering committee about any issues.  We are all in this together.
