We received notice from Kathy O'Connor that Dorothy "Dottie" Shenk died on February 4, 2025 at her home in Overland Park, KS after several months of declining health. Cremation and her ashes were presented to her daughter, Elizabeth. May she rest in peace.

I met Dottie in 8th grade. She was one of the shining lights of what was for me an overwhelming experience of entering such a large school. We clicked and became fast friends. After graduation, when life is filled with so many things including moves, family, etc., we lost touch for a while. Luckily we reconnected about 15 years ago. I'm so glad I knew her, and will miss her smile.

Dottie and I met in the 8th grade at SW. We all looked so young next to the Seniors! I was hurrying from my locker to get to my next class and I tripped up the stairs and dropped all my books. Everyone ran past me and I was totally mortified! Dottie was the one who took pity on me and stopped to help me gather all of my things!
We were best friends for 60 years until her passing on Feb 4th, 2025. We had so many great times over the years and I will miss her for the rest of my life. She was more like a sister to me and I was so lucky to have had her in my life. Love you forever Dots! You will be missed by so many. Your laughter was contagious and your smile would light up a room! I can't believe you are gone!
